In 1921 Lord Leverhulme, who was looking for a London headquarters larger than his current premises at Sunlight Wharf in Upper Thames Street, took a lease on the former De Keyser's Hotel and renamed it Lever House. The administrative move was made from Port Sunlight because Lever Brothers was no longer just a Merseyside soap company but was becoming a world-wide business. Lever House became the head office of Lever Brother Ltd in 1924.
This booklet tells the story of the origins of the Unilever House site, the demolition of the former De Keyser's Hotel and the creation of Unilever House, including it's architectural features, it's use during World War 2 and it's more modern refurbishment.
